@pbsnews: This week marks 100 years since the iconic Goodyear Blimp first took flight. The Ohio-based company began making airships for the U.S. Navy back in 1917. In 1925, its first branded blimp took to the skies outside Akron. Since then, they have become a larger-than-life staple of American culture, hovering over sporting events and national celebrations.
