what blows my mind is that at 18, I had NO FUCKING IDEA who I was as a person. kids are joining, potentially experiencing some of the worst horrors a human being can witness, and are then are supposed to just integrate back into society in their early twenties with an absolutely devastated sense of self.

They used to follow my son and harass him in between classes in high school. Tried to get him to sign some something at 17 and he told them no my mom isn’t here and they said you don’t need her you’re almost 18. He was like HARD NO. but how is that even legal???!!!!

My dad was a drill sergeant and now is on private contracting over seas - my heart breaks for him daily - I pray he gets out one day but he went in when he was 15 - that’s all he knows 🥺

my dad served in the Marines and then the army. 2 of my 3 brothers served in the navy. our whole family has PTSD. I occasionally still get texts from recruiters (they're after my kid). I tell them my bloodline has given enough and to lose my number.
