I just left st. Vincent de Paul thrift and they had a sign about the USDA freeze will result in about 17% less food per person and please be patient with staff. I asked what they needed most for their food pantry and will drop it off. So sad

The right is acting like nonprofits are unregulated. There are tons of govt regulations on the funds that nonprofits get. We have to account down to the penny. Check out 2 CFR 200 to see all the rules. It’s a lot. Also, the whole reason we are tax exempt is because we are providing the safety net — something the govt should be doing.

My daughter in law works for our senior services center which is a non profit that works with the elderly. It is a vital organization that provides case workers to check on the elderly
