split the actual solenoid itself if the paper windings around the coils are black/burnt then ignition switch on car was faulty and feeding voltage heating the coils over time like a toaster

a quick sandblast shot to the motor stud on the solenoid,clean connection from motor and a new nut would of fixed this.
