I don't understand how this repair restores the strength of the block. even more material is removed - it seems worse. I can see that it fills the crack but....

Stitching done right is amazingly strong ….. seen it done on big blocks right down to 5.9 high hp Cummins that are on and off the fuel all day even daily drivers . Big blocks are usually constant load and properly heat cycled , in theory anyways

wouldn’t it make more sense to just get a whole new piece that doesn’t have a crack in it? then it wouldn’t need to be repaired.
