Why? Invader Zim is, on record, one of if not thee most expensive series Nickelodeon has ever produced. Its ratings were low due to poor timeslot placements. It was seen as controversial by parents due to the darker nature of the show and episodes like Dark Harvest have their own controversy.

I'm pretty sure the creator of this show is the same guy who wrote the book, johnny, the homicidal maniac. The book is very dark and holds a special place in the gothic scene. i'm pretty sure because of that. They did not want to be associated with the creator anymore. which is crazy to me, because the same the person who wrote rugrats wrote aeon flux.

I met Richard Horvitz at a con in Cincinnati, he had a booth between, Rikki Simons (Gir) and Billy Cranston (Blue Power Ranger). Who he continued to yell at and berate the entire time in Alpha 5 and Invader Zim voice lines. I was a little tipsy (I snuck in alcohol) and was rolling in laughter the entire time. Great guy, and definitely loves his work and audience/fans.

When Invader Zim was on TV, I was 8 or 9, and my bedtime was at 9pm. Even on Fridays. I always begged my mom to let me stay up to watch Invader Zim. She said it would still be on TV when I was old enough to stay up to watch it. I always watched all the reruns, but I never got to see the new episodes when they aired

For a long time, Nickelodeon had a rule that if a show ended, the final episode could not conclude the story of the show. They didn’t want kids to think a show was over, so cancelled shows would end “randomly”. Obviously this changed as time went on (Avatar the Last Airbender received a beautiful conclusion), but there are still plenty of shows that never received a proper ending. Perhaps one day Invader Zim will get the Samurai Jack treatment and receive a proper ending! 🤘🔥

Nickelodeon would probably give you some b******* answer about it making kids depressed. they did the same thing with that book series we all really got into, the series of unfortunate events. truth was it was the only thing telling us what the real world would be like even though we're children
