@minimalbelle: Overusing protein conditioner 😩! 
Not too long ago I tried a protein conditioner from a well-known brand and instantly fell in love. My hair felt strong but still super soft—like each strand was sturdier somehow. I was HOOKED. 
I used to do protein treatments maybe every 4 to 6 weeks. But this time? I wanted that feeling again, so I started using it every other day. Every. Other. Day y’all. 
Within a week, my hair started drying up FAST. No leave-in helped. No method of layering or sealing worked. I kept thinking the conditioner would fix it, when in reality… it was the problem 🫣. 
My hair in the video? That dry crunch? That’s what protein overload looks like. And for my tightly coiled, low-porosity hair? Yeah, I definitely did not need all that. 
I had to put the protein down, return to light hydration, water, and castor oil. Basic things. Slowly, my hair started looking normal again. 
So if your hair feels weirdly brittle or dry, and you’ve ruled out the usual suspects (like hard water, harsh shampoos, or layering products wrong)… check your conditioner. You might be overdoing the protein, friend. 🩵 #hairtips
