@milkshakesnail: Did you know that OCD can cause meltdowns? It’s true! An OCD meltdown is basically a rush of intense emotions and physical sensations, usually centered around an obsession (in my case, at least) Right now, NOCD (treatmyocd.com) has this a 15-minute call with an OCD expert available, completely free. NAMI is also a great resource, as well as the national hotline at 988. HELP IS OUT THERE. I LOVE YOU! 🩷 #ocd #MentalHealth #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #mentalhealthmatters #MentalHealthAwareness #advocate #longvideo @NOCD
I named my OCD Frank and sometimes Frank is in the drivers seat and I’m tied up in the trunk. Other days I’m driving and Frank is just in the back seat. We just have to take it day by day 🫶🏻

When I was diagnosed, and the therapist explained it all to me about OCD I seriously thought my thoughts were normal 🥺

For me it’s usually negative thought loops / cycles I can’t escape. Therapy has helped, learning to redirect thoughts as soon as I recognize it

it feels like a billion people at a party continuously telling you that everything you’re doing is wrong no matter how you try to change what you’re doing

for me personally it feels like I'm in a nightmare and I panic at the fact that it's not a nightmare, it's reality and I can't just wake up from it

It’s like untangling a net and trying to differentiate which is a real though or an ocd thought but the more I get stuck in the web, survival takes over and all rational is abandoned. So I struggle against the net spiderweb I am in for a while until I am fully tangled and at that point I cannot tell what thoughts were real or not

Thank you for this. I’m currently dealing with this with my husband and it’s exhausting and he’s turned to religion to try to fix himself and I just realized it is scrupulosity… it’s so hard and hearing you explain the meltdowns is so helpful.

You’re the first person I’ve ever heard describe this in a way that explains exactly how I feel day in and day out and it’s validated that I need additional help 🥹🙏🏾

To even imagine that there are people out there who don’t have neurodivergent brains is….i just can’t do it. I only just found out about my OCD. I relate to so much of what you just said!

ocd is so exhausting. it’s insane that there are so many subtypes and everyone’s obsessions are all unique but at the same time you can find someone who shares the same ones as you. but having ocd can feel so isolating. describing it to ppl around me who don’t have it makes me feel so strange and crazy. ugh.
