Sadly, the issue isn't just up to the companies, but the fact that Korean society is conservative on their own. Already there were comments from Knetz claiming Katseye was just queerbaiting for business while others were saying who cares since they were made for the West. They don't hold foreigners to the same standards as themselves. I definitely think it could help open doors, but whoever does it will be have to be willing to deal with all the hate which may even trickle into their ability to get brand deals (domestically, anyway). It will have to be a Kpop idol from the big 4.

I think we need to remember kpop has a very big domestic market. They will try to maintain the status quo. They tend to express their opinions when they are in USA or they have been in the entertainment for 10+ years.

Why are people so surprised that Hybe give more freedom to their artists like coming out or expressing their sexuality, when in fact many years ago Bang PD brought a pair of high heels to one of the members of his boy group who come out as gay.

I’m not even surprised that this happened with an Hybe group. RM been posting his sneaky link, Boongi come out every other business month, Jinmin basically told u all that he is gender neutral. They debuted TXT 😭. I was prepared for Lara and Megan. Not to mention Bang PD getting heels gay heels to a gay member of one of the past groups he helped produced
