I think the rise in ADHD diagnosis is a side effect of the rise of people seeing a Psychiatrist for depression/anxiety: cause when you have to sit still for nearly an hour and talk, they tend to notice some things…

They didn’t diagnose girls or women like they do today. The signs were there! I was labeled a gifted underachiever instead.

I started school in 1976, I suffered so much because my teacher didn't want me to be left handed. My mother asked her to let me be.

My dad was born in 1904 and was forced to write with his right hand. although he was literate, his writing was illegible because he was never fluent with the right hand.

If you are a ADHD coach? if you've studied the science you'd know how complex Neurodivergent brains are. Are you aware how trauma can bring on symptoms that mirrors ADHD.
look at ADHD in America vs other countries. Please be mindful of your audience. Remember it is also a spectrum. From a person who has extreme sensory issues, has a CADHD dx. Yes, there is some truth looking at genetics. As a coach encourage evidenced based and peer supported articles.

Also, like for me and probably many, my parents weren’t aware of mental illnesses. The stigma from that generation is that if you’re mentally ill, you’re “crazy” and they didn’t see me that way so I was never tested. Then as an adult now I see so many things online that I recognize in myself. So I also think having more access to the world and people contributes to the rise
