Used to work in a hotel, a school trip stopped overnight with parent chaperons. One of the parents tried to bribe my front desk to have the pool reopened. (Our pool closed at 10pm. They wanted to use it at 2 am)

when I get people wanting to use the pool after hours like that. ive found the best way to get them to accept the pool is closed is by telling them a little white lie. I nornally say it's not safe for them to go swimming as we have to put chemicals in the pool overnight to make sure it's prepared for the next day. haven't had a single person call me on my lie they all always accept it and wait for when the pool opens up

I had a HS track coach act like he didn't understand what CLOSED meant when I told him - no, his track team could NOT use the pool after closing, yes, even though they did very well at their meet and they're very polite kids, and ... no, it's not because corporate locks the door remotely and I don't have a key?? The pool is CLOSED? It's not like I'm physically incapable of opening the door, you just aren't allowed in??

I booked an airport hotel for a 4am flight the same night as a huge group of high school sports teams and I was thissssss close to calling the front desk on them because they were hollering and banging on the walls in the rooms adjacent to mine.

I had people asking for full refunds on their rooms because in January when it was 40° the outdoor pool that is not heated was closed for winter... It's listed everywhere that the pool doesn't open until memorial day and closed labor day

When someone asks this I always tell them the pool's on an automatic timer to "circulate chemicals" and they REALLY wouldn't want to be in there 😂

I had a guy try to bribe me to let them use the pool after it closed. I told them that if you like chemical burns then sure. We start the cleaning after everyone is out.
