I grew up with a largely absent father. (Complete no contact for 27 of my 35 years and the others he barely bothered) At times my mother starved so my brother and I could eat. She is an absolute superhero. My father is a narcissist. My brother and I have grown up to lead fulfilled and successful lives. Not everything (I'd argue sometimes nothing) hinges on the father or his influence. You don't get a choice whether your father is present so let's not be telling people they are the be all and end all 👍🏼
