@rare_reels: In December 2003, Joyce Vincent passed away in her North London apartment, likely due to an asthma attack. Her television remained switched on, and her rent continued to be paid via automatic bank transfers. Mail piled up at her door, unnoticed. Weeks turned into months, and still no one questioned her absence. The persistent odor in the hallway was dismissed, attributed to nearby trash bins. The noise from her television blended into the everyday din of children and teenagers in the building. Eventually, Joyce's bank funds were depleted. Her landlord began sending payment demands, which went unanswered. With more than six months of unpaid rent, a court order was issued for eviction. When bailiffs forced entry in January 2006, they discovered her remains. Joyce Vincent had been dead for over two years. #viralvideos #scary #creepystory #alone #scared #joycevincent

I felt sick in my school room alone with no friends n my parents live in a different city. I woke up in the hospital. My neighbor said she greeted and I didn't answer n she decided to force open the door and check on me n that was when she realized I was unconscious n brought me to the hospital. She n her friends already contributed n paid for the consultation while waiting for my parents. Africa is great.❤️❤️

There are several red flags in this story…it almost seems fictional, possibly made up for engagement. It’s hard to believe that someone could die in a city apartment and remain undiscovered for two years. How did the landlord or caretaker not notice? How did the neighbors not smell anything, considering how strong the odor of a decomposing body can be?. It’s also unlikely that she had absolutely no one…no close friend, colleague, partner, or family member…who checked in on her over the course of two years. That would mean multiple seasons passed without anyone noticing her absence. Even the detail about the TV staying on for two years doesn’t make sense…no TV runs continuously for that long without malfunctioning, and surely neighbors would’ve noticed it playing non-stop. This story doesn’t add up. And if it’s true, then it’s a tragic reminder of the importance of building meaningful, quality relationships in life.

From Google: Joyce Carol Vincent (19 October 1965 – December 2003) was a British woman whose death went unnoticed for more than two years as her corpse lay undiscovered at her bedsit in north London. Prior to her death, she had cut off nearly all contact with those who knew her. She resigned from her job in 2001, and moved into a shelter for victims of domestic abuse. Around the same time, she began to reduce contact with friends and family. She died sometime in December 2003. Her remains were discovered on 25 January 2006, with the cause of death believed to be either an asthma attack or complications from a recent peptic ulcer.

I remember the Same story of a south African 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Sheila, originally from South Africa, worked as a medical secretary and lived alone in a flat in Peckham, London .
Her unnoticed passing: Sheila passed away in late 2019, but her death went undetected until police forcibly entered her apartment in February 2022. Her decomposed remains were found on a sofa — reportedly surrounded by deflated party balloons .
Neighbours' response: Neighbors repeatedly informed the housing association about a persistent foul smell and fly infestations, as well as unopened mail and gas cut-off notices taped to her door—but no one inspected her flat until 2022 .
Final rites: A small cremation service took place in London (attended by her estranged brother and a representative from the Peabody housing trust). Later, Sheila’s remains were brought back to South Africa and laid to rest in the Eastern Cape, where about 100 mourners—including family she had never met—attended .

these who are saying this can't happen in Africa you all wrong unless you don't see how we copying up all the external life styles 🤔 a child used to be for the whole community and everyone cared is it still the same? we used to have extended families is it still the same? we used to have community activities where we used to unite as one to face the challenges we are facing as the community is it still the case, whatever bothered one was bothering us all as the community is it still the case, are we still united, 🤔 politics and these external regions have divided us😭😭 we dropped all our cultures unless you aren't seeing it but this is already happening in Africa.
