π is EVERYWHERE! Pi (represented by the Greek letter π) is a mathematical constant. It refers to the ratio between a circle's circumference (the distance around the circle) and its diameter (the straight line passing through the center that cuts the circle in half). No matter the size of the circle, this ratio will always be the same value of pi. Here's why pi shows up in so many formulas: - Circles are fundamental shapes in geometry and trigonometry. Pi is essential for calculating any measurement related to circles, like area, circumference, sector area, segment area, etc. - Many other shapes are derived from circles, such as ellipses and spheres.
