@arjay_mccandless: Kubernetes (K8s) is extremely powerful (and complicated). This is a 60 second breakdown of the key components to understand before you try to use it. Kubernetes is extremely common in industry and a core component of distributed systems when deploying docker applications. #coding #devops #programming #docker #kubernetes #k8s #csmajors #systemdesign
Kubernetes is great as long as you can get someone else to manage it

again amazing content great job. would be good to also highlight that you need kubernetes at scale for such a fast API application if you don't have 100k+ users you don't need kubernetes.

k8s is almost never worth it. unless you have more than 100k users don’t worry about it

Nodes arent vm by definition. They can be vm, baremetal or even containers (dont do that). And also kubernetes isnt a silver bullet. Your application still has to be architectured to actually allow for this type of scaling. One easy example to grasp is session storage wich has to be available for all pods.

Ahhh manually using Kubernetes seems a bit overkill. Let’s stick it in ECS, or a firecracker-based solution like fly.io. We could even go with a fully managed Railway solution if traffic needs are low enough.
