I am sorry. Are you and your doc sure its Bipolar and not undiagnosed adult ASD. Many meds help mental illnesses but if doctors miss the ASD those meds have paradoxical effects and often cause dependency. Years of hell to taper and detox. But if you have the willpower, a supportive family and medical team to help you its possible. But getting off meds for the wrong diagnosis is challenging. And use holistic therapies whenever you can.

Many people want to stop taking them because of the weight gain - I experienced this myself but I decided that I would start eating better and take medication because I don't want to be unstable

I made that mistake 17 years ago stopped taking my meds bcuz I was “feeling good” & then I crashed. Having mixed episodes back to back where it lead me to the mental hospital but now my meds are working & im staying on top of my meds

Yes because of what others do I have to be questioned and accused that I do this when I don't I hate being lied about it just because it's so common with other people I always take them but still get talked about like I do the same thing

The harsh reality though is, in doing so, likely our kidneys will fail and we’ll die much younger than the average. Sucks, but I’m ok with that for stability. It is what it is.
