The only traditional Cheddar still made is by the cheese company in Cheddar as to make it traditional it has to be aged in the caves in Cheddar Gorge meaning this is not traditional cheddar

love all the brit's seething thru their mangled teeth that it's "not real cheddar" like babes your cheddar isn't protected like champagne. Cheddar does not have to come from Cheddar in the UK to be legit. A simple google search will tell you this as it's quite literally the first 20 links you get when you google it

The people saying it's not cheddar if it's not from Cheddar. Cheddar is a protected method of making a cheese, not a protected place it has to be made. It has no PDO.

😂 The comments do not disappoint. It’s wild how many Americans are butthurt over the fact that cheddar originated in England. Not sure why the OP liked comments claiming “cheddar is American,” but I’m not surprised — they also said Vermont is the second-oldest place to make it. Geography alone doesn’t make that true. It’s actually the fifth oldest because there are at least four places in England with cheddar-making histories going back much further. And to the Brits: “cheddar” isn’t protected. It’s a technique, not a regionally protected name. What is protected are specific types like West Country Farmhouse Cheddar, but not “cheddar” itself.
