We have talked about eloping and a wedding party- or renting an air bnb most that do weddings offer tables chairs setup and breakdown. DIYing a lot. I heard Trader Joe’s flowers are where to go or do fake. It’s one day of my life and I’m not going into serious debt. You might look to see if going out of state would be cheaper

Let me tell you my secret. Cut all the bullshit from the wedding. Nobody needs $20,000 flowers, a $10,000 dress and to get married on a Saturday at PC. You can do literally the same quality of a higher end/luxe wedding for a fraction of the price. I can’t vouch to this bc we’re getting married October 2026, but off season pricing is so much better. We were picky on the time of year but we compromised and are getting married on a Sunday.

First step, get off Pinterest or Instagram. Second-you can have a nice wedding with basic set up. Trust me. Married 19 years in NJ and something I would change is to have a small wedding. Flowers make your own, or at least just get your bouquet done…bridesmaids, make them from Costco. My most expensive (beside venue) was the band but my in-laws paid for them. Go simple, destination weddings are nice but hard for some guests.

The Wedding industry has become so disgustingly greedy. When we were calling around for tents- bc we’re doing a backyard wedding- once we switched to a “garden party” approach, suddenly the prices went down 🥴

I did all dried flowers because I didn't even want to hear a quote like that🤣 on the tables we did dried flowers in bud vases that guests could take home & then dried for the bouquets from Etsy & all the girls kept them! I couldn't imagine spending 20k on flowers & then watch them get thrown in the trash at the end of the night 😭

We already booked a venue and are thinking about canceling and eloping out of the country. It would be mush cheaper ✨

I’m getting married in New York City but live in New Jersey. I know the big Jersey wedding is what so many brides here want but we reimagined our day by blocking out the noise and expectations of others and found we actually want something smaller and more non traditional. Bought out a restaurant in a historic townhouse in West Village that’s beautiful on its own, and are just adding a sprinkle of flowers in — spending $3,200 with our Jersey based florist (who is phenomenal if you love non-traditional flower arrangements like I do!) Our total spend is right at $75k all in (including my dress and his tux, and a splurgey hotel) for 120 guests in New York City!!!! Do NOT spend $15-20k on flowers, please!!!! That’s such a budget buster from the jump.

It’s normal, florists don’t make a lot of money - flowers and floral supplies are expensive. We DIYed florals spent $4K, it would have been 10-12K with a florist

3 months out from my NJ wedding. Just opened up a 0% APR credit card to try to help the crash out I’ve been having. I think we all just need to become wedding vendors, cause that’s clearly the business to be in to make money.

We splurged on the venue that offered the most, are doing a morning wedding, and we’re using contractor based services to keep the rest of the costs down (Dreamlife- photo/ video, florals- poppy flowers) and started planning + paying 2 years in advance to make it less overwhelming lol

In NYC, we’re spending at approx $45k with EVERYTHING. 130 guests. Throw the wedding for yourself, not for social media. There are vendors for every budget out there…
