Counting calories, will help you lose weight. But, are you losing fat or are you losing both fat and tissue? The first law of thermodynamics makes perfect sense, if you are a statue or a robot. We are neither. We are humans governed by hormones. The hormone to focus on is insulin because it stores energy for you. When you eat, insulin has to decide where to store the energy. It will either store it for you to access immediately or it will store it as body fat for you to access when there’s no food. That is how the body’s designed - we cannot change that. If you want to lose body fat (not just tissue/weight - there is a difference), eat foods that don’t instruct insulin to store energy for a rainy day. Instead, eat foods that are lower on the glycemic table, foods that are satisfying and foods that are full of nutrients, both macro and micro, not just calories.
