The British Conquest of India Mapped ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง #India #AndhraPradesh #Bangladesh #SriLanka #Mysore #Madras #Chennai #Bengal #Burma #Myanmar #Delhi #Goa #Pakistan Sources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw9psR8MyPI&ab_channel=OllieBye https://victorianweb.org/history/empire/india/maps/10.html The British conquest of India mapped. From the early 1600s, England began to establish trading posts across the Indian subcontinent. In 1757, the British East India Company scored a victory over the Nawab of Bengal, taking control of Bengal. By 1768, the company gained significant influence over the Northern Circars, part of modern-day Andhra Pradesh, and then over the areas surrounding Madras, or modern-day Chennai, by 1783. After the third Anglo-Mysore war in 1792, the East India Company received a large portion of Mysore's coastal territories and established further influence over Southern India and some of its states. Then, by 1799, after the fourth Anglo-Mysore war, the British and the company came to dominate more of Southern India, and had established a presence in parts of Ceylon or modern Sri Lanka. This dominance of the south would be further extended by 1805, in addition to further territorial and influence gains in the North and West. In 1818, the Maratha Empire was annexed, and the British East India Company had come to dominate most of modern-day India and Bangladesh as well as all of modern-day Sri Lanka. In 1849, the company had extended its influence and rule into Jammu and Kashmir in the North after the first Anglo-Sikh war, and East into modern-day Burma. By 1887, British domination of India and the subcontinent was at its height, and the rule of the East India Company had been done away with, replaced by direct British rule.
