What do you think of the argument that Clement of Rome believed in the intercessory-request prayer to Saints? It is focused around what he says in chapter 56 of his letter to the Corinthians, in which he states "Let us then also pray for those who have fallen into any sin, that meekness and humility may be given to them, so that they may submit, not unto us, but to the will of God. For in this way they shall secure a fruitful and perfect remembrance from us, with sympathy for them, both in our prayers to God, and our mention of them to the Saints(ἁγίους)." The argument is that there is a distinction made between 'us' (fellow believers on earth) and 'the Saints', which itself is also strengthened by the fact that he also calls the now-passed Saints of the Old Testament, well Saints.

the only authority I obey is the authority of the bible, and that doesn't tell me to pray to any saints or angels but only to Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit

I don't think we should base our faith or values on Tradition, but what Christ Alone taught. We are saved through Christ alone, and the Bible (His Word) is the only truth in this life. Everything else is secondary and unreliable

Okay so what should we do? I’ve never believed that you can pray to someone other than God. Can’t pray to saints or angels but can pray for their help. Is this reasonable??

This is always a weird argument when in the Bible Jesus Christ himself teaches us himself how to pray and the structure that should be used. Starting with our father who art in heaven… so shouldn’t be praying to god and god alone

Okay...I'm a bit confused with this video. Do you truly think we pray to Saints? We use the wording "pray to" sometimes because it has the same meaning. We ask the Saints for intercession

Revelation 19:10 and 22:8 are great proofs against this. Also, the whole “it’s like asking a friend to pray for you”, do you see ANY of the original disciples praying to their fallen friends to speak to Jesus for them? Also, you don’t pray to a living friend to pray for you.
