@usghostadventures: On June 9, 1912, the Moore family walked three blocks from their home to the Presbyterian Church in Villisca, Iowa. They were attending the annual Children’s Day program, a joyful event marking the end of the school year. Sarah helped organize the evening and played piano as the children sang hymns and recited Bible verses. Two young sisters, Lena and Ina Stillinger, had come to stay the night after joining the Moore children at the program. That night, as the family and their guests slept peacefully, they were attacked by an unknown assailant with an axe. By morning, all eight were dead. No one was ever convicted. 113 years later, the case remains one of the most haunting unsolved crimes in American history. We keep the house active and open, in remembrance — and with hope to find answers to these tragic losses. May they rest in peace.🕊️ #VilliscaAxeMurders #VilliscaIowa #UnsolvedMysteries #Villisca #villiscaaxehouse
