The people exhibited largely robust Caucasoid features and averaged a height of 170–175 cm. The genetic legacy of these ancient hunter-gatherers can still be found in modern North African populations. Iberomaurusians were morphologically similar to European Upper Paleolithic individuals. The Taforalt cluster, which represents the Iberomaurusians in ancient DNA, was largely homozygous for the AA genotype of SNP rs17646946, a variant associated with straighter hair in Europeans. The Iberomaurusian men of Afalou had an average cranial length of 194.6 mm, a medium-large cranial width of 145 mm, and a large facial breadth of 141.6 mm. The women on average had cranial length of 185 mm, a width of 138 mm, and a facial breadth of 133 mm.
