But the reality is, not everyone who puts their socks on in the morning lives to take them off at night. This morning, he dressed himself. But this afternoon, his socks were taken off by someone else—cut off with scissors by the washer. His body was undressed, not for comfort, but for burial. Your clothes, your shoes, your plans… none of it belongs to you. It’s all temporary. “Be in this world as a stranger or a traveler.” (Hadith, Sahih al-Bukhari) So take what you need from this life, but don’t cling to what won’t follow you to the grave.
