peeta being the only one who was reaped adds a whole other meaning to him being the only victor “by chance”. he didn’t just win his games by chance, he was literally the only d12 victor who was in those games at all by chance

Peeta and reaping was rigged as well. The last three people Haymitch cut off in his book were peeta’s dad and katniss’s parents . I’m convinced snow waited for prim to reach age as he knew katniss could hunt. And he fixed the reaping for it to be peeta and prim

It’s crazy because in the book (and in the movies) Effie always picks at the bottom of the names but because of all the drama caused by katniss voluteering she chooses a name at the top of the boys and picks peeta. I truly think this was Suzzane’s way for foreshadowing that the only way Katniss would leave these games alive is if Peeta came with her

Peeta was never supposed to survive his game. his mother even said. Every victor we have from 12 were never supposed to be victors. the other three weren't supposed to ever be in the games and peeta wasn't supposed to be a Victor as there already was one: Katniss.

(i think) if katniss didn’t volunteer, peeta wouldnt have been reaped either, effie was in shock and didnt mix around the boy names, she just picked the first one on top which was peetas !!

I wholeheartedly believe the Capitol rigged Katniss’ reaping. With Prim only having one entry, and I assume the same for Peeta being from a merchant family in town, it was to send a message. No one, even with money, hope, and security, can be free from the games. Prim was a pillar of the Seam and D12 (ofc Katniss, too, but Prim was so shining and bright, all loved her), and Peeta was the youngest of a wealthier family in town.

The whole point of the original hunger games is that nobody is safe, the reaping CAN be random, and katniss’s sister was just the victim of the odds. Yes katniss volunteered so she wasn’t technically reaped but nobody planned for her or prim to be reaped
