Addison has no playlisting, no promo, n no help from her team. Her success is organic bcs she makes fun , entertaining, relatable, and good music. She also studied the greats before coming into the industry.

I have an issue with pitchfork in general. Like who takes pitchfork reviews seriously anymore?? Like make it make sense how Billie got a 6.8 for HMHAS and Miley got a 5.6 for Something Beautiful.. and Addison gets an 8. There’s no way Addison album is better than either Miley’s or Billie’s just saying✌🏻

Literallly. Think about how many artists were coming up on MySpace or Tumblr 10-15 years ago. Same thing, different medium. People need to get over how someone finds an audience. I absolutely love Addison’s debut and as a Britney In The Zone aficionado, the references are brilliant ✨✌️

my theory on pitchfork is that excellent pop records that are undeniably impressive but have millions of credits and writers and probably sent some brown envelopes with their pre release can never get an 8.2 or more aka the 'best new music' tag - they simply get 8.0. never less never more
