Pack your suitcases with your essentials as if you’re going on vacation. That way you’ll have a few days worth of your daily items in case you don’t get to unbox them before you need the items !

Wrap your plates, frames and records in t shirts and kids clothes instead of wasting money on bubble wrap

Take your hanging clothes and put garbage bags over them, with the hangers poking out the top. When you go to the new place you can just hang them right back up

Any furniture you have to disassemble, puts all the hardware for the piece in a plastic bag and tape it directly to the disassemble furniture.

Take a photo of the back of your TV and any other machines with cords so it’s really easy to plug everything back in again

Pay people to do the hardest parts. Keep some gas in your tank bc unpacking/settling in is just as much work as moving out.

Pretend you are going on vacation and pack a suitcase for a week, then pack everything else! Helped me not have to search for everything in different boxes.

Get a pod to go on your driveway. it is so helpful to be able to fill it as you pack. then the truck comes and delivers it to your new place.

we had a colour coded sticker system for rooms (on furniture & boxes); put a small bag together for items you will need that day and the next (toiletries, clothes); unpack the kitchen first and beds!

Also start packing stuff you havent used in ages. That’s how I got through the long list. And I started deep cleaning the moment we decided we would sell. One weekend all the windows. The next weekend paint. The next weekend baseboards etc.

Use styrofoam or paper plates between your dishes/plates rather than wrapping in paper. When you unpack the kitchen, you have disposable plates to use when the house is in chaos!
