I heard of a guy who was at a house party where there was no door on the bathroom. He figured, well, I guess they’re just really open about it. He proceeded to sit down and do his business, as people were walking past. Later he went by again and saw the door was closed. It was a pocket door.

If I were to guess it would have been to accommodate a disabled / older person who couldn't get up stairs and needed carers to assist them to the toilet. Small doorways are difficult for hoists and stuff.
