@graceful.healing: Emotional starvation isn’t always obvious. In some families, basic needs are met—food, shelter, clothing—but emotional needs go unacknowledged. Comfort, validation, being seen and heard—these may have been inconsistently offered or withheld altogether. Over time, this can create a quiet, persistent hunger for connection, safety, and understanding. This experience can shape how you relate to others, how you view yourself, and how you respond to your own needs. Healing often starts with recognizing that what was missing wasn’t too much to ask for. It was necessary. ❗️If this hit you in the feels, you need my best-selling guide, Navigating Overlooked Childhood Trauma. This is such a painfully accurate description. Children raised by narcissistic caregivers become conditioned to inconsistent rewards, often repeating those patterns in adulthood. Healing involves recognizing these dynamics and learning that love should be consistent, safe, and nourishing.
