The way he was carried after they started attacking him in the end... It gave the depiction of Jesus being carried off the cross to me. Sacrificed himself for his people, but was happy to be able to see his friend again.

I think that’s why he drinks. When he’s drunk he sees his best friend. Like the second he retells the story he drinks and starts making music. He knows. Also when he dies he said he was sober and forced the vampires on the stage. He died on stage, making no music so his friend couldn’t see him and he was sober so he couldn’t see his friend
