@tradeinvestsimplify: Replying to @Nbeck what’s the point of investing in dividends if the stock can drop by the dividend amount?? #kennethsuna #retireearly #genzfinance #investingforbeginners #investing #learnontikok #Lifestyle #howtoinvest #millionairemindset #millennialmoney #dividends #growthstocks
I get the theory, but I never see the stick actually drop by the dividend amount….

if there’s no upside potential in the stock, it’s not worth owning in my opinion. Just get yourself a 4% CD

I still dont understand the purpose of dividends bc they are tax disadvantaged whereas in a stock buyback you can delay the taxable event

How do take you profits with voo? You have to sell shares plus you can only buy more shares with any additional money you have. Dividend stocks are not growth stocks for the most part. So what you’re missing is that dividend stocks are for people who want to build a stresm of income. As long as the fundamentals of a company or fund remain solid it does not really matter what the share price (how much it fluctuates with the general market) as your still going to get your dividend. In addition you don’t have to sell shares to get it. Also most solid dividend companies increase their dividends over time and if you reinvest you’re going to get a growing stream of income along with a slight growth in stock price. So again dividend investing is not for growth but for income.

even if it's miniscule, you had $50, it drops to $49 and you get $1, but that one dollar has more buying power at $49 than $50. you reinvested at a cheaper price. it's literally just a small discount to buy again.

Not every dividend stock drops in price, there’s dividend kings that have been paying for decades and the price is still good

Thanks for your video! Your points are valid but this didn’t clear up my confusion😭 I understand your changing pockets analogy. Reinvesting creates more shares sure but your overall $ value stays the same, no? So say your stock says the same price for 5 years, you would see no profit only an increase in shares? You mention dividend stocks increasing in price. Sure, if you are willing to invest any significant $ into an individual stock. For most investors (long term) let’s compare the ETF’s VOO and SCHD, VOO way out performs SCHD in overall market value increase over any time increment. So sure you get value in dividend payouts and a slight price increases but are missing out on an even higher value over time investing in the s&p, no?

Except for Medtronic ….which raised dividend for 25 years….but look at the stock over 10 years compared to s&p or its competitors like BSX or Edwards

Please answer this question 🔥, if you have time: Aren'nt all divided gains unrealized until you sell that said stock? Any dividends you make you don't get until you actually sell that stock and all your money In it. So if there's a crash, you lose everything potentially after years of dividends?
