@robyn_holdaway: Replying to @kelseysbm If I have a reason to learn an accent, then I will give it my best try! But otherwise, it may not be in my wheelhouse. Which accents do you all like the best? #accents #canadianaccent #voiceacting #accent #britishaccent

i live very near the canadian border, and honestly it’s less about the “aboot” and more the “sore-y” instead of “sorry” or “to-more-ow” instead of “tomorrow”.

We have something called the Canadian raise. So we slightly go up at the end so it vaguely sounds like a question all the time

It seems like non-native Anglophones would be at a major disadvantage in the va industry/in anything requiring accents. Is this the case? I have a decent generically British accent (SSB with some hints of conservative RP here and there) and can fool a non-specialist American, but when it comes to people properly familiar with British accents or people who are very sensitive to accent peculiarities, my native language substrate is practically refulgent, and they end up picking up on it. I'd love to get into some sort of voice acting, but I fear that if I can't even properly do one native accent, I am doomed to fail :(

It should be noted that Northern American States and Southern Canadian Areas have similar accents.

Just curious - Do you only take on roles of non-binary characters or do you also do binary roles?

I love the vowel shift between (my native) Australian accent and the Kiwi accent. For example the e in deck is more eh in the Australian accent and more ee in the Kiwi accent... 🤣

If you're gonna learn a Canadian accent, you're gonna have to be specific about where they're from. The provinces have very different accents.

I am just so grateful you understand they are DIFFERENT! So many people think they're close enough they just do an American accent and assume it's good enough! And impressed you can hear the difference!
