@adhdwithjennafree: ADHD? Rushing is one of our biggest issues (because the result is the flip side - crash, paralysis, exhaustion, unable to sustain etc) This is a hard state to break out of when our system is in survival mode. Regulation is how we get out of this. “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.”Heard someone say this recently and it has been my new mantra when I’ve started to rush.

I’m trying to do the work to fix this but I do always wonder in the back of my mind — what is a NT amount of “stuff” to get done in a day? AM I actually behind? Am I killing it? I know what a “productive” or “unproductive” day feels like for me but I wish I could compare it to an NT person. Probably would make me more wound up if I did though 😂

I can feel myself panicking for no reason but sometimes Im incapable of stopping it. I also just moved from an office with low light and few distractions to one with a direct window to the break room and bright sunlight. im unsettled.

Ok so can I ask a foundational question? Why do we have to do things? It seems like we are constantly pushed to do things that don’t serve us, things other people think is important. Instead we should accept that sometimes we’ll get nothing done and sometimes we’ll get lots done and there’s no moral hierarchy in either one. Thoughts?

I like to take an hour around 2 o clock to just relax and scroll then I feel better and i can get up and finish everything if I don't take that break I get soooooooooo overwhelmed & disregulated & I set an alarm to remind myself to take that hour everyday or I forget.

being late diagnosed at 54, I'm overwhelmed with "grage", profound grief/rage. I was stuck in that loop as a prison. I sense the liberation underneath the grief and the rage screaming "I never enjoyed my life. I never felt safe to enjoy life." 😱

If you’re going so fast that you’re are messing up or missing stuff then you’re going too fast. It’s better to be slow and get it right than to go fast and get it wrong. Obviously this doesn’t apply to every situation. But when I worked in a restaurant learning this made me significantly better at my job and way less stressed out.

I’ve started using the Dr Leo Marvin mantra of “baby steps” 😂 it works tho, I can easily accomplish step 1 in a task knowing that I’m setting my future self up for step two when I’m ready to go back to the task. It takes away the overwhelm of too many steps at once, which can keep me in paralysis

Unfortunately we can’t rewire our brain , but we can learn to be more aware of our actions and thoughts Then learn how to manage and cope basically masking our real behavior Sometimes it’s actually peaceful and sometimes it’s completely pushing down emotions
