@cbsnews: A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft carrying 242 passengers and crew on board in Ahmedabad, India shortly after its departure on Thursday afternoon. Video shows the plane, heading for London Gatwick Airport, going down and erupting in flames minutes after what appeared to be a struggle during liftoff. It crashed into residential area, hitting buildings, including the dining area of a medical college. Although law enforcement initially told reporters that no one on the plane was believed to be alive, two officials later said that one person survived. Casualties were also reported on the ground. Here's what we know so far. Head to the linked article for more on this developing situation. #airindia #flight #india #london #planecrash #plane

I’m no expert but I think the pilots forgot to setup the flaps correctly

100% pilot error. The Captain called for gear up while scanning and I bet the co-pilot retracted the flaps instead of the Landing Gear. alarms went off signaling that the flaps weren't set, The plane began to sink rapidly, captain mistakenly thinks its a loss of power calls mayday, increases thrust but that won't do anything when the flaps arent set correctly on a huge plane only 600 ft off the ground with rapidly decreasing airspeed, then the inevitable happened! RIP

AIR 🇮🇳 ACCIDENT (speculation )
Captains at fault regardless of who was the flying pilot. He or she rotated in my opinion a little too much and too soon, it climbs then as it leaves ground effect she starts to sink .Dual engine failure (birds) possible but i don’t think so. Also the flap position possibly is wrong (CONFIGURATION WARNINGS IN COCKPIT?)which would again account for the lack of lift out of ground effect and IF the flap setting was wrong they were definitely doomed anyway.🙏

Passenger on the inbound flight from Delhi reported complete power failure in the cabin, lighting, ac, tv’s. Not sure if this is related but certainly concerning

My View My Way :
The plane was fully overloaded and the calculation of the weight was gone wrong and the flaps were not adjusted properly and at the end speed and thrust was the main cause of the accident

my opinion is it could have possibly been overweight if it was struggling to gain altitude

The electrical was not working prior to flight. A lot of the entertainment screens were dead, the auxiliary systems like AC not working

There is no mystery on the crash of Air India there is only cover up by Tata Group for their criminal negligence resulting to hundreds of death. Blaming the pilot and other conspiracy theories are purely PR spin for damage control. Tata is known to bribe government agencies and control India’s Media. They will whitewash this case

few things….all speculation. copilot grabbed the wrong gear selector…the landing gear should’ve been up and instead they engaged the flap. another could be improper strapped cargo which can change the center of gravity. a lot of what if’s.

I talked to a retired commercial pilot and he has 2 theories. 1. Electrical failure preventing the pilots from configuring the aircraft. 2. One of the pilots moved the flaps instead of pulling up the landing gear.
