"I Am Giorgia is the unfiltered story of the patriotic tidal wave that Meloni would ride to becoming one of the most significant political figures in the world." This is what Donald Trump Jr, son of US President Donald Trump, wrote in his foreword to the autobiography of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, just translated into English and published in the US in June by Skyhorse Publishing. Just a month after Meloni's book "I Am Giorgia" came out in English, just this week, the Italian Prime Minister appeared on the cover of Time Magazine with the title, "Where Giorgia Meloni Is Leading Europe." Time points out that Giorgia Meloni "has confounded her critics." The article adds that "Meloni has embraced the European Union, NATO, and Ukraine, worked to isolate China, and labored deftly to reconcile the fractious relationships between America and Europe during the start of President Donald Trump’s second term. Along the way, she has won over leaders from across the ideological spectrum, from Biden to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Vice President J.D. Vance." In her autobiography, Meloni talks about politics using Italian philosopher Machiavelli as an example. She writes that his "real message [..] is that the role of politics is to act for the greater good , even when decisions can seem dangerous." That is how Meloni approaches any geopolitical issue, as well as the relations with the US, Italy's top ally. It's clear that Meloni had a great relationship with President Joe Biden, and an even better one with Trump. "America is complex," she writes in her autobiography about the divergence between Biden and Trump. She talks about "a deeper America, represented by the seventy-five million voters who supported Donald Trump in November 2020, who cannot simply be dismissed as a group of fanatics wearing horns and bison pelts." Talking about Trump and the US -- let's remind everybody that the book was written in Italian in 2021 -- Meloni explains that the concerns of the MAGA movement "are ours as well." She adds: "With this deeper America, we European conservatives will continue to engage in an increasingly stable and fruitful way. #diplomacy #digitaldiplomacy
