I interviewed 2 gentlemen this week. One dressed appropriately and the other in ill-fitting jeans and his work shirt. The underdog completely blew the other guy out of the water. I mentioned his attire to our recruiter so he subtly gave the guy some tips for the 2nd interview. When he returned, he was dressed appropriately but I could tell the clothes were brand new, which told me he just didn’t have interview clothes for the first round. He even apologized in the 2nd interview. He’s starting in 2 weeks because his qualifications are more important and he showed he’s receptive to feedback 😊

Honestly I’m not good with interviews at all. My anxiety is bad but I always get an interview because of my qualifcations. It’s so frustrating because I know I’m a good employee but won’t get hired because of nervousness.

I’m I the only one who thinks interviewing someone for a job is overrated….i personally believe that you should just hire someone based off their qualifications and then place that person on a 2 months watch….im not good at interviews and usually great at my jobs…

It would be respectful and kind to inform the candidate via e-mail that the company has decided on someone else, not just leave them hanging. Interviewer talks like you have the job-then silence. Some jobs do say thank but we have selected someone else.

As HR next interview give the underdog a chance. As a hiring manager I've found they're better, smarter and more reliable employees. I myself do not interview well do to anxiety.

Say it plain :
At the end of the day, it does not matter how you answer the questions, most companies are eyeballing the culture fit, because that is likely to cause them the most liability. If you answer the question that you are looking for more growth, their mindset could be, what are you going to do with their company if you feel you need more growth. If the company does not want you, nothing matters about the interview.

I feel as if Jeans and a shirt is ok in a interview long as your clean and decent looking because most times when people are looking for a job they don’t have money and if they don’t have money they can’t buy proper clothing and yeah most people already have interview clothes but some don’t. I feel as if they answer your questions good enough and the energy is matched they should be given a try life isn’t as easy as it was so sometimes you have to use what you got to get what you want . I’ve once been the person to interview with jeans and sneakers I got the job though 🥳
