You could also use an ace bandage to keep ice packs in place! Also my husband live off KFC mashed potatoes when he got his wisdom teeth out. Easy to digest with the open cuts.

One decent food that is a little more fulfilling than the mushy stuff is a grilled cheese with crusts cut off. I lived off those the week after I got mine out.
