this happened out last session when we were fighting a false hydra that became Titania, and then when it died the real Titania showed up and revived it, having us fight both at the same time. we won

I’ve got an entire home brew world made out and the continent my players are on has 3/10 of the worlds strongest people on it. At the end of act 3/4 (lvl 3-20 campaign they’ll be lvl 15ish) I’m making them fight a man named “Gidaar the impenetrable wall” he’s a 9”2’ HUMAN who is blessed by this universes god of combat. And due to how blessings work he believes he can only die in combat.

I’m making a boss that currently last 5 rounds and in those 5 round whatever the players do damage wise it totaled up and becomes there hp for the second phase

I had this happen to my party we used EVERYTHING on what we thought was the boss only for the boss to show herself after. It was so cool cause we had to find new ways of fighting without all our abilities and items

My big bad idea was like this but I accounted for min-maxing. It was gonna be a plant related priest gathering blood throughout the campaign using vines he conjured through the ground. He just had the stats of a watered down wizard with with some plant spells in there. The kicker was he used a homebrew item that created an evil copy of each player if the item hit them (DC 19 dex save). If they caught it they could keep the item and use it to make a good copy of them to control (basically two turns, but it copies you as you are, not as if you just long rested) but once the clones died you had to fight the actual entity collecting blood: Gaia. If you didn’t beat her in 8 turns she turned into a Tarrasque 😭
