Was religion the motivation of the soviets or snazis? How about Mao in China? North Korea? Polpot in Cambodia? The 20th century is evidence that religion itself is not the issue as none of those horrible regimes were religious. Many of them were atheistic punishing their own people for being religious. Intrinsic Religiousity correlates with less violence and crime not more. The majority of the sociological data affirms this. So the issue is not religion, it’s politicians who corrupt their society with falsehoods which lead to atrocities of which are intended to aid the political aspirations of the party or leaders.

I agree, you should chase a relationship with God, not religion. Religion has been used to commit unspeakable acts. While I myself am Christian I think it’s better to follow God then religion
