Hi Lisa, I agree all the things you explained except IT band stretching is ineffective. Myself is a physical therapist and had very good results with manual kneeding and stretches to IT band. Lengthening the IT band is important, either it’s from the muscle belly or from the junction (that’s where the extensibility happens) All your videos are great

I actually disagree with some of this. Changing your shoes can absolutely fix a lot of injuries. Me personally I have bad pronation so wearing insoles makes my agonizing feet pain go away completely . I’ve gotten shin splits from wearing bad old shoes. Which go away with a new pair. Not all injuries can be fixed with new shoes but a lot can.

I bought the wrong shoes that had too much arch, that supinated my foot more than my old shoes, causing friction between my IT band and my knee, sidelining me for weeks. I solved it by blaming my shoes and switching back to the old ones and doing IT band targeted stretches, which I’m aware are not stretching the IT band but the muscles supporting it. I’ve done multiple long runs without any pain, it used to hurt to walk after 7k. So how are blaming your shoes and IT band stretches not solutions??

I will respectfully disagree. Years ago, I started getting a sharp outside knee pain. Stretching my IT band solved the problem. So now I always foam roll it before any workout. Never got that knee pain again.
