After #Bono’s so-called “Jesus complex” performance — when he theatrically climbed into the crowd and struck a crucifixion-like pose during U2’s set at Live Aid — I lost interest in #U2. It felt more like self-aggrandizement than genuine activism. By contrast, #DavidBowie’s contribution struck me as much more sincere and impactful. He even cut his own set short by dropping a planned song in order to show footage of the famine crisis in Africa, making sure the cause itself remained front and center rather than his own image. 👨🏻🎤

Any misgivings i have about Bono today, I was a big fan back then since Boy album and that Live Aid moment definitely tocketed U2 into superstars. So all in all it was a genius call

He did this to me at Constitution Hall in DC 12/1984. (Before Live Aid.) I had front row right side.Held me and sang to me. A canon moment. ❤️

His recollection in his autobiography of Live Aid was pathetic. Worst autobiography I’ve ever read. He said when he remembers it, all he thinks of is his mullet and having had a bad hair day. 🤦🏼♀️
