@toren_wolf: I have been working on tying my laces, and I am getting better at it! ☺️💜 There is no shame in taking longer to learn things, and there is no shame in needing help! Do you agree?❤️ #autism #adhd #dyspraxia #shoes

People learn at different rates. My 17 yo sons doctor is bothered that he can't ride a bike. Same kid's been driving tractors since he was 6, is incredibly mmechanically inclined, and has a ton of common sense. He'll be just fine..🥰

I’m 56 and still tie my shoes with 2 bunny ears and people pick on me all the time. I never learned the way you are doing yours

If you have issues with this tying method, i recommend using the bunny ear method. You make two loops and basically tie them together (id look up a video on how to do it, im horrible at explaining things). I find the bunny ears are easier since im uncoordinated and have shaky hands lol.

Growing up I would get made fun of for taking “too long” to tie my shoes and so I switched to shoes I can slip on. This video is very validating 👏

Wow. I've never heard of this. My son is almost 7 and also has motor skills issues and autism. Could this be dyspraxia? I'll ask the doctor.

I'm autistic and have dyspraxia. I do struggle with the method shown in the video. What works best for me is the "bunny ears" method. Start with a simple knot, then create 1 loop with each of the shoelaces (the "bunny ears"), then make a simple knot with the 2 loops.

my 9yr old EA taught him a hack for shoe tying 🥰 I'm forever grateful for her. He outgrew kid shoe sizes so it was getting harder to find velcro

Our drummer in our band, he’s 36, he has dyspraxia, he can play all the instruments, drums, guitar, bass and keys. But, he can’t do shoe laces. He has elastic laces that curl when pulled, so he dosent have to worry. Well done you and getting the hang of laces. I’m a very proud English lady follower. Xx

Your boots have speed laces/hooks. Unlace them from the speed hooks while they are still tied when you want to take them off, then step into your boots and lace them around speed hooks. My husband has some motor impairment and uses the speed method.

QUESTION... does dyspraxia hinder your handwriting and drawing skills as well? my 5yr old has been doing speech/ot for 3+ years, he has gotten over many hurdles but hates drawing and writing, kindergarten will be a challenge I feel
