Imagine telling a south Asian who owns more 22K jewelry than anyone that she can’t afford it 🙄

As soon as I heard “rude” and “st.lawrence market” I knew exactly who they were talking about… she wouldn’t even let my friend and I to look at stuff before paying

I had a similar experience with this vendor, I was looking at some jewelry and she yelled at me to stop touching the class when I wasn’t. She told me “it’s not for you” my cousin was with me and wearing a hijab. I also felt it was racial because she was helping other people who did not look like us.

I need to hear the other side of the story....I doubt this has anything to do with race.

I don’t think it’s rascim it’s elitism. I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me at a Prada store and an expensive jewelry store.

Nothing about racism, but people use racism as a victim card. I used to work in retail, and some customers asked silly questions, tried to get discounts, and complained it was expensive. Sometimes I wanted to tell them to get lost.

we had a very similar experience with that same store. the owner wouldn't even let us look through the stuff and the second my friend bought something expensive, they raised the price for us. $20 quickly turned into $40.

I went there a few weeks ago and she was a sweet old lady. She was really nice to me and not racist (I’m Filipino)

Speaking of racism, it's Interesting how now. uses images of South Asian/Arab jewellery stores instead of images of local jewellery stores, or better yet, the store in question 😬

Rascism and rude are two different things. The fact that she posted this, and personally feels that others may view her as a “rat on the floor” says a lot
