The most accurate thing about this is that conservatives used to have actual animating values, and now they only oppose the left. So no matter how reasonable the left becomes the right will fight against them. That is why the third way has failed, and it is extremely dangerous.

Maybe an example can help Mr. Continenti: My favorite restaurant was owned by an undocumented immigrant. She started the business, grew it, and eventually gave out food to the community. She paid taxes and employed people. She may not vote but she’s vital for the community. And maybe here is an irony: these two gents write about the elites but they are very much elite and probably have never spent a day with undocumented individuals…I could be wrong of course…
