I remember my mom doing my hair like this to school from pre k to 4th grade all the time and I would tell her to stop because ppl would make fun of me now that I see ppl wearing them to support it feels nice and it feels accepting

this is part of indigenous mexican culture by the way. it is not part of every mexican culture, as an indigenous person i hope everyone does research on the importance of these braids and doesn’t take it as a trend.

I’m Mexican(my dad is full and mom is half), but am I allowed to do these hairstyles. I know a lot come from Oaxaca( not sure if I spelled that right), and someone said it wasn’t my culture so I shouldn’t do it. Is that correct? Are there certain hairstyles I can and can’t do?
