A ballerina bun tip for my black girlies: if you want a super tight neat looking bun, put your hair up, and then from the ponytail separate a bit of hair from what seems like the center of the ponytail. With the rest, twirl it around till it’s tight, then take that and wrap around your ponytail holder, pin it down. Then use the hair you separated kinda as like the hair you put over a sock bun thingy. Pin/rubber band and you are done

When I was in dance it drove me crazy when people commented on hair. For tap we usually had different styles. One year my hair was short to took it down for tap because of the cowboy hat.

I think maybe the comment was made based on the hairstyles of the other dancers. I do know that they require certain looks for certain performances (there was another girl there with her hair in a ponytail as well 🙂)
