Humans have existed on Earth for around 300,000 years. Which isn't a lot considering something like the dinosaurs existed on Earth for 179 million years. We also went from first airplane to landing on the moon in the span of 60 years.

I use this argument when discussing inequality. A lot of people don’t think we can ever go back to being so poor that people have only one meal a day or their children have to work to maintain a living. It was really not that long ago.

this is genuinely why i think that learning about history (and various histories from around the world) is one of the most important parts of being alive … because just because you weren’t alive for something doesn’t mean it didn’t relatively JUST HAPPEN !!
