I think the problem is it's making a political statement at the expense of the actual viewing experience. I'm not going to travel into London to hear one song and not pay the extra £25 to actually go in and sit down and see the rest of the show, and I'm not going to pay to see a show when the most famous song and what I'm actually there to see is just a video that I could watch from home. And everybody saying you don't get it, it's a political statement doesn't get that I know that and I think it's a bad political statement.

Finally I’m on the right side of tiktok. All the people who are like “I’m not paying for a ticket for the one song I want to see be outside” - ok? Don’t pay for a ticket for a show when you only care about one song? Go watch the performance outside for free then?

It just goes to show people will just hate on Rachel Ziegler for no reason. I think the move is brilliant.

It was also only £25 for tickets for many people. It was already accessible if it had been done inside the theatre as the social contract when buying a theatre ticket would have suggested. The issue here is the fact that THE song wouldn’t be sung in person in front of the audience but rather outside and streamed into a screen wasn’t advertised prior to the majority of ticket sales

yes I am always in a state of being a little bit mad at broadway
starkid have been filming and posting their musicals for free, no bootlegs, they love musicals enough to actually want to share it with the world..
if people in the US have trouble seeing broadway musicals live, imagine not being on the same continent

this would make sense if it was "dollars". this isn't america. theatre is very accessible here so the message gets lost

If Jamie Lloyd really wanted to make theatre accessible, he'd be filming the show and releasing it on a streaming service. Or better yet on BBC so everyone in the UK has access to it. Or in Youtube so nearly the whole world could view it. This is about his vision, it has nothing to do with accessibility.

I went to opening night, and it was perfection. I was sceptical at first but this was so effective, and really brought the show together. Jamie Lloyd ate

THANK YOU!!! This is what I’ve been saying. Also people saying “I want to see it live” are crazy! It is live! You are just seeing it from a different perspective. They are mad and they haven’t even seen it yet. 🙄

The bitching about Jamie Lloyd gets me because it’s like he’s done the outdoor thing TWICE, to great success. I saw Much Ado About Nothing earlier in the year and the simplistic set and costumes let the cast SHINE. I’m also here like “… why are you going to see a musical for just one song?!?!” That’s not how musicals work!

It’s an infamous balcony scene ON AN ACTUALLY BALCONY. With people live reacting. HOW are we angry at the brilliance? Yes the minimalist approach is different and I get it the similarities but damn.

Not only this but Jamie consistently puts out £25-£30 tickets for every show and they’re usually very good seats. I’m not always a fan of his work but he’s committed to accessibility

Nobody in the UK is charging £900 for a ticket. Just because Broadway prices are ridiculously inflated, just like everything else in the US, doesn't mean it's the same here. You can get decent seats at most shows for £25. It's hardly going to break the bank.
