@endkeepr.23: I also will not show the whole drawing yall the Trikey brainrot is… just… yeah. But I’ve never struggled with this kinda thing in any other sketchbooks, I’ve had this one for 6 months and colored everything in it. I have alternate thumbnail sketchbooks so it’s not like I’m not letting myself have an outlet, but I just wanna be able to make something look nice without having to color?? Mainly everything I draw I think will always look better rendered, but obvs I don’t wanna do it ALL the time. Help xx -#art #artist #sketchbook #arthelp
Hey can I see the full drawing of the one at the start? I really like it.

looks like u have acrylic markers!!! maybe fill in the space behind the drawing (leaving a tiny gap between the subject and background colour/pattern etc)

i color in the backgrounds when i want it to just be a sketch, even if it’s just a solid color but it makes it feel more intentional

a good way I like to make my drawings feel more full is surround them in some random shapes and doodles, mostly relating to the main drawing! Going harder on the drawings contrast and value can help as well! [happy]

i always find that more contrast always makes a piece looks so much more wholistic. darker shadows lighter highlights etc.

practice? I mean you could always have a side sketchbook to just draw doodles. obviously it's gonna be icky it's hard at first but the more you do it the better it's gonna be!

Go harder on your values. A piece with contrast always feel finished for me. Add some darker values & it’ll look polished

focus on perfecting flow and then experiment with unique poses, lighting, textures, and incorporating the character with the canvas. you can also sketch with a colored pencil then draw over in grayscale or draw in grayscale and add one color in important parts

SketchCC :
You can have a black out backround behind the character, I usually doodle a bit, with little scenes of my characters doing stuff together in the corner of the drawing. You also just have to get used to not coloring so you get out of that mentality, I’m usually not prone to coloring and it’s a struggle for me so I’m trying to color more often instead of just sketching, which is proving to be difficult because I’m afraid of messing up

add another colour over it. one that contrasts a little. opt for yellow or green all over. add another contrasting colour to the darkest parts of the shadows
