HAPPY DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH‼️🙌 Yes it’s a legit thing that we celebrate! And it is DIFFERENT from “Pride Month” which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. “DISABILITY PRIDE month” is celebrated in the month of July because the American with disabilities act known as ADA was passed in July 26 of 1990! When you really think about it, it hasn’t been that long since the ADA passed‼️💯 But we owe it to all the amazing disabled heroes who came before us who fought for disability rights to help end a lot of discrimination and segregation that there was before due to many places in the US not being accessible‼️ •Even though this law passed almost 35 years ago, there are still many places that are inaccessible around the US and the disability community STILL faces a lot of discrimination, unfortunately! But this is a chance for us to celebrate being part of this community‼️ I never thought I would belong to this community as I was not born with a disability. I had a tragic car accident that left me paralyzed from the chest down at the age of 19 and my whole world changed! It was so hard for me, especially because I was injured in 2005 and social media is not what it is now and I just felt so alone‼️ But it is the same community that inspired me to move forward! Shout out to everyone who came to the hospital when I was in rehab because everyone I met with a disability gave me hope and inspired me that there is life after a spinal cord injury‼️ LIFE ALWAYS GOES ON and overtime you learn to adapt! Im so proud of my journey in a wheelchair and I’m EVEN PROUDER of the disability community because we are STRONG, RESILIENT AND BADASS‼️ HAPPY DISABILITY PRIDE LOVES‼️ Cheers to celebrating our community ALWAYS‼️🙌 _____ ¡FELIZ MES DEL ORGULLO POR LA DISCAPACIDAD‼️🙌 Sí, de verdad lo celebramos y con razón!

¡Salud por celebrar a nuestra comunidad SIEMPRE‼️ ___ #normalizedisability #inclusion #diversity #paraplegic #spinalcordinjury #disability #wheelchairlife #disabilitypride #disabilityinclusion #motivation #foryou #normalizaladiscapacidad #diversidad #discapacidad #paraplejica #lesionmedular #vidasobreruedas #orgullodeladiscapacidad #inclusiondeladiscapacidad #motivacion #latina #parati
